The exhaustive and expert investigations on a wide front eventually led to a consensus of agreement on the size, form, structure and materials of the first Globe. These were translated into the architectural drawings and specifications for the building of the new Globe, which commenced in 1989.
In 1996, the stage elevation was modified with a gable and pentice roof and mocked up for the Prologue Season that year. The pentice roof allowed the columns to be closer together and the main stage roof to be lowered and lightened. The previous design had been mocked up for the 1995 Workshop Season and gave a position for the columns that was particularly disliked by the actors.

The final 1997 drawings show, above, plans of the first, second, and third gallery levels, and, below, the stage cross section.
